Hostel: Rules

​Hostel Rules
GENERAL BEHAVIOR OFF BOARDERS IN ES LE GRANGE HOSTEL
·        Show respect towards all hostel staff, fellow learners and their property at all times.
·        Greet all visitors and staff members friendly and with respect.
THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIOR IS NOT ALLOWED IN OUR HOSTEL:
·        Disobedience or ignoring of a staff members request
·        Fighting, pushing and shoving, wrestling, bullying and bribing (example: Don’t play soccer for money)
·        Threatening of other learners or staff members
·        No throwing of stones or any other objects
·        Swearing, rude remarks, gossiping, hate speech or insults
·        Swearing by means of hand signs
·        Teasing of other learners
·        Rude remarks about another person’s appearance or inabilities
·        Racism 
·        Stealing or hiding another person’s property 
·        Dishonesty
·        Deliberate spitting or biting
·        Smoking, or be in possession of any tobacco or matches/lighters
·        Alcoholic beverage, and related substances such as illegal drugs on the hostel grounds or in any other place where they may be identified as learners of the school/boarders of the hostel.
·        Medication must be handed in to the supervisor
·        No dangerous objects
·        No boarder may climb through any hostel window or on any hostel roof, or enter the hostel in any other way than through the designated doors.
·        No boarder may enter any hostel room apart from his/her own, unless with the necessary permission, or accompanied by the relevant fellow boarder.
·        All forms of pornography are strictly prohibited.
·        No Boarder may leave the school premises without permission from the hostel head and written permission from parent/guardian. 
·        No exchanging of any personal belongings
Cell Phones
·        Cell phones are brought into the hostel at own risk
·        All cell phones must be switched off at lights-out
·        NO charging of cell phones during the night
·        No photos of any learners or staff member may be taken by other learners or visitors
 
Radios / beat boxes 
·        Radios and beat boxes are brought to the hostel at own risk
·        NO loud music is allowed in or out of the hostel
 
Building and equipment
·        Keep the rooms and hostel grounds neat at all times
·        No littering is allowed in all buildings
·        Furniture and equipment may not be deliberately damaged in any way
·        Keep bathrooms and toilet facilities clean at all times. No toilets or wash basins may be clogged 
·        No boarder may fiddle/play with a fire extinguisher, switchboard, camera or any electrical installation
·        Any deliberate damage done to school property (ex. breaking windows) will be financially covered by parents of the learner
 
Dining room
·        Be always on time for meals
·        Boarders must enter the dining room quietly and orderly
·        Boarders must clear the tables after each meal
·        No food may be wiped off onto the floor
·        Plates and cutlery must be placed in the designated containers
·        No food, plates, cutlery, glasses or any other kitchen equipment may be removed from the dining room         
·        No food may be removed from the dining room unless a boarder is sick with the permission of the medical staff or supervisor          
Play grounds/Swimming pool
·        Boarders are only allowed to play at their designated playgrounds
·        Kicking of balls will only be allowed on the soccer field
·        No dipping, jumping and running around in the pool
·        No more than 10 learners in the swimming pool
 
Bathroom
·        Only one boarder in a shower or toilet
·        No more than 10 learners in the bathroom
·        No sharing of towels
 
Bedroom
  • No sitting or sleeping in another boarder’s bed
  • Curtains must be closed when getting dressed
  • Cupboards and beds must be kept clean and neat
 
TV Room
  • No watching TV under the blankets with friends
 
Note: Please, no men should wait for girls in the TV room or in the foyer of the girls’ hostel, when they come to pick up their children.
